About
Imants Tillers is an artist, writer and curator.
He has exhibited extensively since the late 1960s and has represented Australia at significant international exhibitions such as the São Paulo Bienal (1975), the Biennale of Sydney (1979, 1986, 1988, 2006), Documenta 7 (1982) and the Venice Biennale (1986).
Tillers came to prominence during the early 1970s and has been an influential advocate of conceptual art and postmodern discourse in Australia. He works primarily with appropriation, intuitively combining existing artworks, philosophy and literature as 'ready-made' poetry in his imagery.

Studio
Imants’ artistic practice has developed over the decades not only in relation to the shifting global and local art worlds, but within the physical constraints (both the ordinary and the specific) of each of his studios.
Part atelier, part research library, Imants’ studio facilitates his meticulous and unique canvasboard system; shaping his enduring exploration of images, ideas and memory in his artworks.
