Imants Tillers studio is pleased to announce his inclusion in the upcoming exhibition 'Michael Nelson Jagamara: Possum Stories' at Fireworks Gallery, Brisbane. On display from the 29th of September until the 21st of November 2026, the exhibition will feature three collaborative works by Tillers and the legendary Warlpiri artist Michael Nelson Jagamara (1946-2020).
Tillers first began collaborating with Jagamara in 2001 (facilitated by Michael Eather at Fireworks Gallery). Their fruitful working relationship lasted two decades and resulted in many significant paintings, which belong to collections such as the Parliament House Art Collection, Canberra, Collection of the Queensland Art Gallery | Gallery of Modern Art, Brisbane and the Tate Gallery, London. Two posthumous collaborative paintings, Know Yourself (2021) and Intuition 3 (2024) will be on display for the very first time in Australia.
A special 'Artists in Conversation' panel moderated by Una Rey (Artlink) featuring Imants, Michael Eather and Pat Hoffie will be held on Friday October 9th, 6-8pm to accompany the exhibition. Please RSVP by October 2nd to foh@fireworksgallery.com.au
