Imants Tillers studio is pleased to announce his inclusion in the upcoming exhibition “Holding Ground” at the S. H. Ervin Gallery, Observatory Hill, Sydney. Curated by Gavin Wilson,  'the exhibition will reflect how localised landscape values have the potential to open a wiser, urgent discussion on the fate of Mother Earth and our place in it...and aims to compel viewers to re-think and look more closely into the complex makeup of the places they inhabit: places that sustain the fragile web of life.'

Three of Tillers Critical Forests will be exhibited alongside other leading Australian artists with a connection to New South Wales: Badger Bates, Sophie Cape, Lucy Culliton, Jo Davenport, Julie Harris, Janet Laurence, Euan Macleod, Mac Maderski,  Idris Murphy, Angus Nivison, Lae Oldmeadow, Julie Paterson, Simon Reece, Mark Seiffert, John R Walker and John Wolseley.

"Since we moved to this (some would say) godforsaken, bleak, arid, treeless landscape called the Monaro, almost thirty years ago, an awareness of landscape has become inescapable to me. Every journey on foot or by bus, car or aeroplane entails contact with the austere local vistas of a landscape formed by ancient lava flows, tempered by heat, frost, drought and decomposing granite. And beautiful grasslands! Naturally, issues of locality and identity have become uppermost in my mind and have made their presence felt in my works of the last three decades."
